Summer Project: Golden Host

This was my life over the summer. Well, kind of. I actually have 2 chapters, and it's still going. After school ended, I missed working on a project constantly, so I decided to make one for myself. I had to keep my artistic juices flowing, so making this manga gave me some really good practice. I asked Jen Tai (my sista' from another mista') to be my story writer again. We've collaborated before-way back when we were elementary/junior high school kids. I asked for a story with a fantasy genre, so she pulled out one about hosts and clients. It's a long story, you'll have to read it.

I still need more practice, however. I'm excited to work hard at the Manga Club that Richard and I started at Pratt. Must... get... better!!!

Finally a new post!

Okay, I admit I've gotten lazy on the posting. Here are some things I did towards the end of freshman year.


Gesture drawing of a person in action. The ball was imaginary. I really enjoyed doing this piece, and as an animation major, I can't wait to continue studying movements. 18"x24" newsprint.

A study on expansion and contraction. Can you guess which one this is? 18"x27".

This was my drawing final, a cityscape. This was a study of third point perspective, and we had to exercise our creativity for once. The top one was the first version, and the bottom one is the finished version. This piece was huge, I didn't have time to measure it... my professor took it from me once I showed it to him. It was bigger than me for sure, and I'm 5'1"-5'2".

A Conversation Between Two...and PIZZA

Thought I'd finally put some of my digital photography to use on my blog. Photos of two strange men at a pizza pie shop. A little memoir of my first year at Pratt.

Graduation Hat

My graduation hat project. It's actually influenced by Chinese scholar hats, or the Emperor's hat. Like such.

3-D work

I realized I mostly have drawings on here... so I decided to post a 3-D project I did. This is old, but I'll post it anyways.

More Drawing Assignments

Err... I forget what this assignment was... Oh I think it was a free project, so I experimented with white pastel and charcoal on kraft paper. 18"x24".

Light/Color/Design Class

Okay, I've been getting lazy trying to get things in chronological order, so I'm just going to post up stuff whenever I'm in the moment to.

A word design project choosing one word that the project will convey. We had to choose 2 hues and 1 font that went with our word. Done in coloraid. :(

First Semester Drawing Class

These are drawings that I recovered from first semester class. The other projects have been taken away to a faraway land, and hopefully I will retrieve them soon. I'll post the gesture drawings when time allows me to.

One point perspective study of the Pratt Library including imaginary objects that are convincing in its environment. 18"x24".


Study of parallel perspective using toy trucks. First point of view. 18"x24".

A shift of point of view, using the same toy truck with two point perspective. Understanding perspective in geometric objects including circles, using ellipses. 18"x24".


The objective was to draw the model and its environment, using all the elements of what we learned from class. 28"x39".
